HU Berlin’s Department of Musicology and Media Science is home to an extensive collection of relevant devices and instruments from various eras. The Media Archaeological Fundus was set up by former director Prof. Wolfgang Ernst and is currently being curated by Prof. Shintaro Miyazaki.

There is already analogue and digital documentation available for the collection’s objects: a “Katalogos” (PDF, 2 MB) and an inventory in wiki format.

The aim of our project is to compare, merge, and supplement this data. Till Roemer has systematically examined the inventory and researched missing information.

Until HU Berlin has a dedicated system for collection documentation, digital copies and metadata from this collection will be stored in a “data hotel” provided by the Digital Network for Collections.

Objects from the Media Archaeological Fundus will soon be searchable on this collection platform.
