The Berlin Museum of Medical History of the Charité has built up an extensive database of scientific objects, which is currently only accessible locally. The museum uses the Axiell Collections database management system to catalog its objects. To enable future data exchange with specialized portals, aggregators, and the new Charité Medical History Collection Portal, the data must be mapped to the standard exchange format, LIDO, and the mapping process must be revised and simplified.
The Digital Network for Collections is supporting this data management project by providing tools, scripts and advice on data modeling issues. We are drawing on modules and experience from similar projects for other university collections within the Berlin University Alliance.
