For the last few years, the TU Berlin’s Mineralogical Collections have been working on digitally documenting their holdings. As the collection is extensive, with over 100,000 specimens, photographic documentation by specialized service providers is only possible for a few sub-collections.
The workshop aims to develop the Mineralogical Collections team’s skills in scientifically and aesthetically documenting minerals. This will allow the team to photograph the collection on a larger scale and to produce images that meet important standards for teaching, communication, and outreach.
The workshop will be led by an experienced object photographer. Over three days, the focus will be on one aspect of the photographic workflow—from preparing the photo project to post-processing and archiving the images.
The collection’s existing photo studio, equipped with high-quality equipment thanks to Berlin University Alliance funding, will be an advantage during the workshop.
In addition to members of the Mineralogical Collections digitization team, interested parties from other collections in the BUA network may also participate.
